What is Roan?
Having a coat of a dark (red, apricot, cream, chocolate, or black) base color
with white hairs mixed in.
Roan only shows through on white fur. On chocolates, it looks like a cookies and cream milkshake. It appears as a speckled coat.
It takes a year to come in fully.
The intensity varies greatly; some dogs are heavily marked with roan,
some are lightly marked.
It shows up earlier in chocolate and black coats,
but any color on the red/ cream spectrum can be roan as well.
